Violinist 이예찬 헌정 : 제40회 바이올린독주회를 축하하며

   지난 40여년간 Violinist 이예찬교수와 작곡가인 나의 존재의 중심에는 늘 하느님이 함께 하셨다.

긴 세월동안 참으로 많은 이야기가 오고 갔고 그러면서 작품이 하나 둘 씩 완성되었다. 

동생의 제 40회 바이올린 독주회를 생각하면 마음이 따듯해지면서 감사한 마음이 하나가득하다. 

그 마음을 가장 전통적인 편성인 바이올린과 피아노를 위하여 주님께 봉헌하는 작품을 썼다.

Lee Jung Seob the Painter II for Oboe and Piano (2019)

이중섭은 가장 한국적이며 가장 창의적이고 현대적인 화가이다. 그가 살아온 짧은 생애(1916-1956)는 식민 시대와 전쟁이라는 

우리나라의 가장 비극적인 시대의 한 복판에 놓여 있었다. 그러나 그는 현실에서 이루어질 수 없는 바람과 이상을 특유의 해학미로 화폭에 담아냈다.

그의 1950년대 작품인「두 아이」는 가족들에 대한 그리움과 헤어짐에 대한 안타까운 마음을 꼭 껴안고 있는 두 아이의 모습으로 승화시킨 작품이다. 

전쟁 상황에서 겪어야만 했던 궁핍과 가족과의 이별로 인한 극한의 어려운 삶 속에서 탄생된 작품「두 아이」에 내포되어 있는 진정한 예술가로서 

이중섭의 정신세계를 오보와 피아노의 가장 밝고 맑은 음색으로 재창작하였다.

Lee Jung Seob was one of Korea’s premier painters and an artistic genius of Korean modern art. His short life (1916-1956) was in the midst of 

the two most tragic events in Korean history, the Japanese colonial period and the Korean War, which placed his life in extreme financial hardship 

and emotional turmoil. However, most of his paintings were distinctively full of optimism and humor.

「Two Children」is his painting in 1950s in which he sublimated his longing for family reunion into two children hugging each other tightly. What was 

his psyche as an artist to create「Two Children」while suffering severe distress during the war?

In this work “Lee Jung Seob the Painter II”, I tried to imagine his artistic mind and the connoted message in「Two Children」

with bright and clear tone of oboe and piano.
